Experiences

Marrakech, the way locals love it

Beyond the riad walls, our team arranges the experiences that make a stay in Marrakech unforgettable — a traditional hammam, a Moroccan cooking class, a guided walk through the souks, a day in the High Atlas, a night in the desert and a candlelit dinner on the rooftop. Every one is private, arranged on request, and run by people we know and trust.

Hammam & spa ritual — Marrakech

01

Hammam & spa ritual

The oldest ritual of the city — black soap, warm steam and a kessa scrub, followed by an argan-oil massage in the riad spa.

Black soap softens the skin, a kessa glove sloughs away the week and warm steam opens the pores — finished with a slow argan-oil massage. It is the traditional Moroccan hammam, the country’s oldest beauty ritual, kept exactly as it should be: unhurried, private and deeply restorative.

A night in the desert — Marrakech

02

A night in the desert

Agafay or the dunes beyond — a ride at golden hour, dinner under the stars, and a quiet camp far from the city lights.

The Agafay desert is about forty minutes from the medina — a stony, lunar landscape that turns rose-gold at dusk. Ride out as the light drops, watch the sun fall behind the dunes, then sit down to a Moroccan dinner under a sky thick with stars. Stay the night in a quiet camp, or come back to your riad bed.

Cook a Moroccan feast — Marrakech

03

Cook a Moroccan feast

Shop the souk for spices, then learn tagine and pastilla in the riad kitchen with our cook — and eat what you make.

Start in the spice market choosing cumin, saffron and ras el hanout, then head back to the riad kitchen to cook alongside the team who feed our guests every day. You’ll learn to build a proper tagine and the sweet-savoury layers of a pastilla — then sit down and eat the lunch you just made.

Guided souks & medina — Marrakech

04

Guided souks & medina

A trusted guide through the maze — artisans, dyers and hidden courtyards, at your pace, with no pressure to buy.

The medina is a thousand-year-old labyrinth, and the best way to read it is with someone who grew up in it. Our guide walks you past the coppersmiths and dyers, into the leather and carpet souks and the quiet courtyards tourists miss — at your pace, in your language, and never on commission, so the only buying you do is the buying you want.

Atlas Mountains day trip — Marrakech

05

Atlas Mountains day trip

Berber villages, waterfalls and mint tea on a terrace high in the mountains — about an hour from the medina.

An hour’s drive trades the medina’s heat for cool mountain air. Walk through Berber villages of red earth, hike to a waterfall, and stop for a tagine and mint tea on a terrace looking out over the valleys — with the snow-dusted High Atlas peaks above. A private driver takes you door to door.

Dinner on the rooftop — Marrakech

06

Dinner on the rooftop

A private, candlelit Moroccan dinner served on the terrace as the call to prayer drifts over the rooftops.

Some evenings are best spent at home. We lay a private table on the rooftop terrace — lanterns, candles, a homemade Moroccan menu — as the sun sets behind the Koutoubia and the call to prayer drifts across the medina. No restaurant booking, no taxi: just dinner, above the rooftops, a few steps from your room.

Questions, answered

How do I book these experiences?

Tell us at check-in, or message us before you arrive. Our team arranges everything — a trusted guide, a private driver, the hammam, the desert camp — and we only work with people we know and use ourselves.

Are the experiences included in the room rate?

No — your stay covers the room and breakfast. The experiences are arranged on request and priced separately, with a clear price given up front and no hidden commission.

Can you arrange experiences for families or couples?

Yes. Most are private and easily tailored — gentler and shorter for children, more relaxed for couples, more active for the curious. Just tell us who is coming and what you would love to do.

When is the best time for the desert and the Atlas?

Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are ideal. Summer days are hot but the desert is magical at night, and winter brings snow to the High Atlas peaks.

How far in advance should I book?

A day’s notice is usually enough for the hammam, cooking class and souk walk. The desert and the Atlas are best booked a day or two ahead so we can secure the right guide and driver.
